Web3: Substance, Essence and Stick
If you are not interested, note that 'substance' and 'essence' are fundamentally same. However, in this article, there is a subtle distinction.
'Substance' refers to the original form of something, while 'essence' elevates it to a higher level, indicating which category it belongs to and which theory it aligns with.
'Stick' akin to a Zen master's loud shouting, may seem incomprehensible at first glance. However, it has the power to reveal the essence of higher dimensions and snap you out of a state of fanaticism.

Substance: in the end is what a thing.
Essence: what is it actually?
Stick and Drum: It's not just that!
This article delves into the essence of WEB3 and its message, using precise language and avoiding unnecessary jargon.
The chart above depicts the well-known 'maturity curve' (Hype Cycle) published annually by Gartner, which illustrates the lifecycle of new technologies from their emergence, through rapid development, decline, and eventual stable application.
Some refer to it as the Hype Cycle due to its reflection of people's emotional enthusiasm for certain technologies.
The chart displays the maturity curve of blockchain and Web3 related technologies as of July 2022. As shown on the chart, Web3 and NFT are currently at the forefront. However, given the rapidly changing landscape, it is possible that they may not maintain this position when the chart is updated later this year.
The Substance of WEB3
The fundamental distinction between traditional and Web3 development is the use of blockchain technology on the backend, which is a distinguishing feature of Web3.
Upon closer examination, it can be observed that the user side typically employs a wallet for signing, while the back-end is more inclined to use Provider for communication with the blockchain. Additionally, storage is often facilitated through a decentralized file system such as IPFS.
This approach ensures that the most critical data is stored on the chain, while front-end web pages and other components are stored elsewhere.

This concept is reminiscent of Paolo Soleri's proposed design for a future city, which features a solid base with multiple layers built on top.
